José Gómez Ortega
José Gómez Ortega (8 May 1895 – 16 May 1920), commonly known as Joselito (), was a Spanish matador in the early twentieth century. Younger brother of matador de toros Rafael Gómez Ortega ("El Gallo"), Joselito was considered a child prodigy and was the youngest bullfighter to receive the title of ''matador de toros'', at the age of 17, with his brother as "padrino". Joselito followed in arch-rival Juan Belmonte's footsteps and the two ushered in bullfighting's "Golden Age" during the second decade of the 20th century. Joselito and Belmonte are widely considered to be among the most famous bullfighters of all time, and their professional rivalry did not prevent their developing a close personal friendship. Joselito was fatally gored in the ring by the bull "Bailador" in Talavera de la Reina at the age of 25, where he was appearing with the matador Ignacio Sánchez Mejías. Gelves, Andalucia
Gelves is a city located in the province of Seville, in Andalusia, Spain. According to the 2006 census (INE), the city has a population of 8,325 inhabitants. It lies on the west bank of the Guadalquivir river. The city of Gelves is not to be confused with Los Gelves, the Spanish name for the island of Djerba off the coast of Tunisia, where the Spanish fought important battles in 1510 and 1520. Gelves is in the metropolitan agglomeration of the regional capital, Seville, but is a separate municipality, bordering to the north with San Juan de Aznalfarache, west with Mairena del Aljarafe and southwest with Palomares del Río, which are also in the conurbation. Gelves also borders the municipality of the city of Dos Hermanas to the southwest. The Virgin of Hope of Macarena ( es, Virgen de la Esperanza de Macarena de Sevilla), popularly known as the Virgin of Macarena or simply La Macarena, is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with a pious 17th century wooden image of the Blessed Virgin venerated in the Basilica de la Macarena in Seville, Spain. The Marian title falls under a category of Our Lady of Sorrows commemorating the desolate grievance and piety of the Virgin Mary during Holy Week. The image is widely considered as a national treasure by the Spanish people, primarily because of its religious grandeur during Lenten celebrations.
