José Giralt
José Giralt Iduate (March 1884 - 24 January 1960), also known as Patache Giralt, was a Cuban-born Spanish footballer who played as a defender and midfielder for Madrid FC, Club Español de Madrid and RCD Espanyol. He was a member of some of the oldest football entities in Spain, such as Sky Football, Madrid Football Club and the Club Deportivo Español, being a founding member of the first two. His brothers, Mario and Armando, also played for Madrid FC, with José and the latter being the most renowned and well-known, in fact, they pretty much followed the same sporting path until their retirement. He reached the final of the Copa del Rey numerous times with three different clubs, becoming over the years one of the footballers who added the most presences in finals, winning two of them. Arthur Johnson (footballer, Born 1879)
Arthur Vere Scott Johnson (12 April 1879 – 23 May 1929) was an Irish coach and footballer who played as both a forward and goalkeeper for Madrid FC. He was one of the most important figures in the amateur beginnings of Real Madrid CF, since it was the knowledge that he brought from a more advanced football in England that helped the club to have a rapid sporting growth in its early years, thus being one of the main architects of the foundations that saw the club win its first titles and become one of the best teams in the country in the early 20th century. 1909 Copa Del Rey Final
The 1909 Copa del Rey Final was the 7th final of the Spanish cup competition, the Copa del Rey. The final was played at Campo de O'Donnell in Madrid on 8 April 1909. The match was won by Club Ciclista, who beat Español de Madrid 3–1. The Ciclista goals were scored by George McGuinness, Charles Simmons and Miguel Sena, with José Giralt reducing the deficit for Español de Madrid late on. The final was played under a heavy downpour and with low temperatures. The match was tough and although Español de Madrid took the initiative, their attack collided again and again with the San Sebastian defense that did take advantage of the opportunities they enjoyed. After 90 minutes of unsuccessful domination from Español de Madrid (they even missed a penalty for a handball in the area), the referee blew the whistle for the end of the match with a result of 3 to 1 for San Sebastián Cycling Club, which was proclaimed Champion of Spain for the first time. The 1903 Copa del Rey Final was the first final of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish football cup competition. The match took place on 8 April 1903 at the Hipódromo, Madrid. The match was contested by Athletic Bilbao and Madrid FC. Madrid FC scored twice in the first half to lead the match 0–2 down at the break. However, a crucial harangue at the break by the Athletic Bilbao captain and president Juan Astorquia, inspired Athletic to pull off a great emotional comeback in the second half that turned the game around, thus lifting the trophy for the first time with a 3–2 victory. Athletic Bilbao claims this trophy to be their second in a row, although the Royal Spanish Football Federation doesn't recognize the previous tournament as official.
