José G. Saucedo Mendoza (December 5, 1924 – August 7, 1998) was a Mexican Anglican bishop from 1958 to 1997. He was the first bishop of Cuernavaca. He was the first archbishop of the Anglican Church of Mexico, serving from 1995 until his retirement in 1997. Under his episcopacy spanning four decades the Anglican Church of Mexico grew from one missionary diocese to five dioceses that formed an independent member of the worldwide Anglican Communion The Anglican Communion is the third largest Christian communion after the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. Cuernavaca
Cuernavaca (; nci-IPA, Cuauhnāhuac, kʷawˈnaːwak "near the woods", ) is the capital and largest city of the state of Morelos in Mexico. The city is located around a 90-minute drive south of Mexico City using the Federal Highway 95D. The name ''Cuernavaca'' is a euphonism derived from the Nahuatl toponym and means 'surrounded by or close to trees'. The name was Hispanicized to ''Cuernavaca''; Hernán Cortés called it ''Coadnabaced'' in his letters to Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, and Bernal Díaz del Castillo used the name ''Cuautlavaca'' in his chronicles. The coat-of-arms of the municipality is based on the pre-Columbian pictograph emblem of the city which depicts a tree trunk () with three branches, with foliage, and four roots colored red. The Anglican Church of Mexico ( es, La Iglesia Anglicana de México), originally known as Church of Jesus is the Anglican province in Mexico and includes five dioceses. The primate is Enrique Treviño Cruz, Bishop of Cuernavaca.
