José Durán (boxer)
José Manuel Durán Pérez, popularly known as "Pepe Durán" (born October 9, 1945, in Madrid, Spain) is a former Spanish professional boxer. During his eleven-year professional career Duran held the Lineal and WBA light middleweight titles. He challenged for the WBC version of the title and held the EBU title. He also competed in the men's welterweight event at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Professional career Duran made his professional debut on November 30, 1967, in Barcelona, Spain. Duran made a victorious start to his career by scoring a knockout over Ben Hamida in the third round. After winning 22 consecutive bouts Duran suffered his first defeat, losing to Jean Josselin via an eight-round decision on June 22, 1970. Duran was able to avenge this defeat on May 21, 1971, once again the fight went the eight round distance although Duran won the decision on this occasion. José Antonio Durán Rivas (born 27 June 1974) is a Spanish football manager and former player. Career Born in Lugo, Galicia, Durán started his managerial career at the youth levels of hometown's CD Lugo, club he already represented as a player. In 2004, he was appointed manager of the first team in Tercera División, replacing fired Quique Prado, and managed to achieve 10 wins in 18 matches as his side missed out promotion by finishing sixth. On 10 January 2006, Durán was appointed at the helm of CD Foz in the fifth level, and managed to finish 16th. On 26 June, however, he resigned after his side was relegated. On 1 June 2007, Durán was named Viveiro CF manager. He was sacked on 4 June of the following year, and returned to his previous club Foz on 11 July. On 21 June 2010, after narrowly missing out promotion to the fourth tier in his first campaign and finishing in a comfortable mid-table position in his second, Durán announced his resignment. José Antonio Durán (1810 - c.1880) was an Argentine military man and politician, who participated in the main military actions that occurred during the Argentine Civil War. He served as secretary of the Government of Nazario Benavídez, and as war correspondent of Juan Manuel de Rosas in San Juan Province. Biography He was born in San Juan Province, Argentina, the son of Juan Durán and Javiera Ortiz, belonging to a traditional Creole family. He had an active participation in Argentine civil conflicts, serving under the General Benavides in the military campaigns of 1841, 1842 and 1843, against Unitarian troops.
