José Antonio Salguero
José Antonio Salguero García (born 25 January 1960) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a central defender. In La Liga, he played almost exclusively with Real Madrid (six seasons) and Sevilla (five), winning six titles with the former club. His professional career lasted 17 years. Club career Born in Fuente de Piedra, Province of Málaga, Salguero started playing professionally with his hometown club CD Málaga, making his La Liga debut in 1979–80 in a relegation-ending campaign. In the subsequent off-season he signed for Real Madrid, but spent almost two entire years with their reserves, being nonetheless part of the squad that won the 1982 Copa del Rey. Salguero only managed to start regularly for Madrid in 1986–87, playing 28 matches – and partnering legendary Manolo Sanchís in the heart of the back-four – as they won the national championship. Copa De La Liga
The Copa de la Liga (League Cup in Spanish) was a Spanish football tournament created in 1982. Due to time constraints, saturation and club pressure, the competition only lasted four years, being cancelled in 1986. Winning the trophy helped two clubs to complete cup doubles: FC Barcelona with the Copa del Rey (1983) and Real Madrid with the UEFA Cup (1985). In all four finals, the team that played the second leg at home won the trophy. Format The League Cup was a straight knock-out competition. All ties were played over two legs, home and away, with the team with the largest aggregate score progressing. The final also consisted of two games. If the aggregate score was tied after two legs of ninety minutes each, extra-time would be played. If that failed to separate the teams, a penalty shootout would determine the winner. The 1982–83 Copa del Rey was the 81st staging of the Spanish Cup, the annual domestic football cup competition in Spain. The 1981–82 Copa del Rey was the 80th staging of the Spanish Cup, the annual domestic cup competition in the Spanish football. The tournament was attended by 136 teams from the main categories of Spaniard football. The tournament began on 30 August 1981 and ended on 13 April 1982 with the final, held in Nuevo José Zorrilla Stadium, in Valladolid. Extremadura (; ext, Estremaúra; pt, Estremadura; Fala: ''Extremaúra'') is an autonomous community of Spain. Its capital city is Mérida, and its largest city is Badajoz. Club Polideportivo Mérida was a Spanish football team based in Mérida, in the autonomous community of Extremadura. Having played twice in La Liga ( 1995–96 and 1997–98), the club was dissolved in 2000, due to serious economic debts. Its successor was renamed Mérida UD. History The team founded in 1912 under the name Sportiva Emeritense. It became one of the first teams from Extremadura to play professional football. The club first began playing football in 1943, when it was admitted to Tercera Division. They spent four years there, after which the team was relegated to regional leagues for two years.
