Josh Johnson (baseball Coach)
Joshua Rashaad Johnson (born January 11, 1986) is an American professional baseball former infielder and current coach in the Texas Rangers organization. He was previously a coach in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers. Playing career Johnson attended George S. Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida. The Kansas City Royals selected Johnson in the third round of the 2004 MLB draft. Johnson spent the 2003-2009 seasons in the Kansas City minor league system, before being released after the 2009 season. He signed with the Washington Nationals and spent the 2010-2015 seasons in the Washington system. Coaching career After the 2015 season, the Nationals hired Johnson as the manager of the Gulf Coast Nationals, and he spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons in that role. Coach (baseball)
In baseball, a number of coaches assist in the smooth functioning of a team. They are assistants to the manager, who determines the starting lineup and batting order, decides how to substitute players during the game, and makes strategy decisions. Beyond the manager, more than a half dozen coaches may assist the manager in running the team. Essentially, baseball coaches are analogous to assistant coaches in other sports, as the baseball manager is to the head coach. South Atlantic League
The South Atlantic League, often informally called the Sally League, is a Minor League Baseball league with teams predominantly in states along the Atlantic coast of the United States from New York to Georgia. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the High-A East before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. A number of different leagues known as the South Atlantic League (SAL) have existed since 1904. Larry Johnson (baseball)
Larry Doby Johnson (August 17, 1950 – May 26, 2013) was an American professional baseball player. A catcher, he appeared in 12 games over five Major League seasons for the Cleveland Indians (1972; 1974), Montreal Expos (1975–76), and Chicago White Sox (1978). Johnson was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He batted and threw right-handed, stood tall and weighed . He attended Cleveland State University and Manatee Junior College. Johnson was named for Larry Doby, the first African-American to play in the American League, a seven-time All-Star outfielder, and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Corey Ragsdale
William Corey Ragsdale (born November 10, 1982) is an American professional baseball former player and current coach. He is the first base coach and major league field coordinator for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Ragsdale attended Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Ragsdale committed to the University of Arkansas but was drafted by the New York Mets in the 2nd round of the 2001 MLB draft and signed. An infielder, Ragsdale played in the Mets organization from 2001 through 2007. Ragsdale joined Texas Rangers organization as a minor league free agent in 2008. Christopher Michael Woodward (born June 27, 1976) is an American former professional baseball utility player, coach and manager. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, and Boston Red Sox, from 1999 through 2012. Round Rock Express
The Round Rock Express are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. They are located in Round Rock, Texas, and play their home games at the Dell Diamond. The team is named for Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, who was nicknamed "The Ryan Express." Ryan, along with son Reid Ryan and Don Sanders make up the team's ownership group, Ryan Sanders Baseball. The Express were established as a Double-A team of the Texas League (TL) in 2000.
