Josh Begley (footballer)
Joshua Begley (born 3 July 1998) is a professional Australian rules footballer who last played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the Essendon Football Club with the 31st overall selection in the 2016 AFL draft, 2016 national draft. He made his debut in round 22 of the 2017 AFL season, in which he recorded thirteen disposals, seven marks, two goals and three goal assists in a thirty-three point win against at Carrara Stadium, Metricon Stadium. His first 5 disposals in AFL football resulted in 2 goals and 3 score assists. He remained in the side for the final game of the season and played in Essendon's losing elimination final against Sydney in his third game, scoring two goals. At the end of the 2020 AFL season, Begley was informed he would not be receiving a new contract, and would be delisted from the club. Carrara Stadium (known commercially as Metricon Stadium) is a stadium on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, located in the suburb of Carrara. The stadium is primarily used for Australian rules football, serving as the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, who compete in the Australian Football League. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). The 2017 AFL season was the 121st season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior men's Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game.
