Josh Olayinka Awotunde (born June 12, 1995) is an American track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and has a personal record of outdoors and indoors. Personal life Awotunde was born in Lanham, Maryland in 1995. He was raised in Franklinville, New Jersey, by parents Adeola and Christina Awotunde. He is a 2013 graduate of Delsea Regional High School in New Jersey. Awotunde attended University of South Carolina and graduated in 2017. He is of Nigerian ancestry. The USATF U20 Outdoor Championships, formerly known as the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships, is an annual outdoor track and field competition organized by USA Track & Field (USATF) which serves as the national championship for American athletes aged under 20. The competition is also used for American national team selection for the IAAF World U20 Championships in even-numbered years and the Pan American U20 Athletics Championships in odd-numbered years. The event was established in 1972 and were originally organized by the Amateur Athletic Union. The Athletics Federation of Nigeria is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Nigeria. It is a member of the Confederation of African Athletics and the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was founded as the Central Committee of the Amateur Athletic Association of Nigeria in 1944. The AFN is headquartered at the Nigeria National Stadium in Garki, Abuja. The 2017 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships were held at Hornet Stadium on the campus of California State University, Sacramento in Sacramento, California. Organized by USA Track & Field, the four-day competition took place June 22–25 and served as the national championships in track and field for the United States. The event was held in conjunction with the USA Track & Field Junior Outdoor Championships. The 50 kilometers race walk was held January 28 at Santee, California. While no men were able to make the 4:06 qualifying standard, two women were able to achieve their 4:30 qualifying time, with Katie Burnett walking faster than the second place man. USA Track & Field (USATF) is the United States national governing body for the sports of track and field, cross country running, road running and racewalking (known as the sport of athletics outside the US).
