T. W. Josey Comprehensive High School (commonly referred to as T. W. Josey or Josey High School) is a public high school in Augusta, Georgia, United States. Josey's campus is located several blocks south of the Medical District. The campus is bounded by 15th Street to the east, Essie McIntyre St. (at former city limits) to the north, and Eagles Way (named in honor of the school's football team in the 1990s) to the south. History The school opened in 1964 as a school for African Americans, in the final decade of segregated schools in the county. It was named after Doctor Thomas Walter Josey, a prominent figure in local history. Building improvements including a new classroom wing and building facade were added in the late 1960s. Jimmie Olden Johnson Jr. (born October 6, 1966) is a former American football tight end and current offensive coordinator running backs coach for the San Antonio Brahmas. Johnson played college football at Howard University and professionally in the National Football League (NFL) from 1989 to 1998. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. The Virginia Destroyers were a professional American football team based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They began play in the United Football League (2009–2012), United Football League (UFL) in the 2011 UFL season, 2011 season. They played their home games at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Deon D'Marquis Grant (born March 14, 1979) is a former American football safety who played 12 seasons in the National Football League. He played college football for the University of Tennessee, was a member of Tennessee's national championship team and earned All-American honors.
