Josephat Ababu Sorongo (born 15 April 1980) is a former Kenyan cricketer. He is a paceman who returned to the Kenyan cricket squad for the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy after a three-year absence along with Brijal Patel, Rageb Aga and Malhar Patel, having impressed with his bowling earlier in the year against Pakistan's A team. Dr. Josephat Njuguna Karanja (5 February 1931 – 28 February 1994) was the fifth Vice-President of the Republic of Kenya between 1988 and 1989. He resigned to avoid an ongoing vote-of-no-confidence in the Kenyan Parliament. He was accused by the now late Hon. David Mwenje Member of Parliament for Embakasi Constituency of wanting to overthrow President Daniel arap Moi's government by soliciting help from foreign nations. Josephat Kiprono (born 12 December 1973) is a Kenyan distance and marathon runner. He participated at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 1996 and won a silver medal finishing behind Italian Stefano Baldini. Kiprono won three marathons in his career: Berlin (1999), Rome (2000), and Rotterdam (2001). His Rotterdam time of 2.06:50 hours which was the best marathon performance in 2001. Josaphat Kuntsevych, OSBM ( – 12 November 1623) was a Basilian monk and archeparch of the Ruthenian Catholic Church who on 12 November 1623 was killed by an angry mob in Vitebsk, in the eastern peripheries of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. He is said to be the best-known victim of anti-Catholic violence related to implementing the Union of Brest, and has been declared a martyr and saint of the Catholic Church. Josephat Machuka
Josephat Machuka (born 12 December 1973) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He won IAAF World Cross Country Championships junior bronze medal in 1992 and 1993. In the 1996 IAAF World Cross Country Championships he was 10th and was part of the Kenyan team that won team gold. At the 1992 World Junior Championships he competed in the 10,000 metres finishing second, but as he was being passed just before the finish, he deliberately punched at the eventual winner Haile Gebrselassie during the final sprint and was disqualified. Overshadowed by Gebrselassie his entire career, this early incident is what Machuka is best remembered for. He competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, finishing fifth in the men's 10,000 metres race, won by Haile Gebrselassie. He was also fifth in the 1995 World Championships 10,000 metres race. Josphat Kiprono Menjo (born 20 August 1979) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in track and road running. A relative latecomer to athletics, Menjo began competing around 2002 and first represented his country at the 2006 African Championships in Athletics, where he was fifth in the 5000 metres. A silver medal in the event at the 2007 All-Africa Games was followed by an eighth-place finish on the global stage, running in the 10,000 metres at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. He won the San Silvestre Vallecana 10K race at the end of the year. Josephat Ndambiri
Josephat Muchiri Ndambiri (born 12 February 1985) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics in 2007. He is based in Japan and trains with PACE Sports Management. He moved to Japan as a teenager on an athletic scholarship and specialised in long-distance track running, including the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. He competed for, and graduated from, Ryutsu Keizai University. At the 2005 Sapporo Half Marathon, he led for the first half of the race but had faded to fourth by the finish point. At the end of the year he represented Kenyan in the International Chiba Ekiden. Running the marathon distance with a relay team of Martin Mathathi, Daniel Mwangi, Mekubo Mogusu, Onesmus Nyerere and John Kariuki, he helped set a world record time of 1:57:06 hours for the popular Japanese event. Josephat Torner
Josephat Torner (1977/1978 – 12 April 2020) was a Tanzanian albino activist. He was featured in the documentary ''In the Shadow of the Sun''. Activism Torner was born in Ngwangwege, near Lake Victoria. Torner stated that his mother was told by the midwife to poison him, but did not do so, instead encouraging him to go to school. When he was twelve his mother died. Torner then came into contact with a pentecostal church and then followed his secondary education. Torner subsequently moved to Sweden and studied management for three years. Torner at one point worked as a teacher. Since 2004 Torner was an activist for albino rights. In 2006 he gave up his teaching job, to focus full time on his activism. Torner travelled around Tanzania and the world to educate on knowledge of albinism and on persecution of people with albinism.
