''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'' (often colloquially known as ''Joseph'') is a sung-through musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on the character of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis. This was the first Lloyd Webber and Rice musical to be performed publicly; their first collaboration, ''The Likes of Us'', written in 1965, was not performed until 2005. ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'' is a 1999 British direct-to-video film adaptation, film version of the 1972 Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, of the same name. It is a sung-through musical film. Plot The film depicts ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'' being performed to a primary school assembly hall, where the children become the chorus of the musical while the teachers and staff become its characters. The audience are introduced to Jacob and Twelve Tribes of Israel, his twelve sons. Jacob favours his second-youngest Joseph (Genesis), Joseph, which he shows by giving him a ''coat of many colours''. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Baron Lloyd-Webber (born 22 March 1948), is an English composer and impresario of musical theatre. The guinea (; commonly abbreviated gn., or gns. in plural) was a coin, minted in Great Britain between 1663 and 1814, that contained approximately one-quarter of an ounce of gold. Michael John Hurd (19 December 1928 – 8 August 2006) was a composer, teacher and author, principally known for his dramatic cantatas for schools and for his choral music. It is the penultimate song of the first act of the musical, sung by Joseph while imprisoned for his supposed relationship with Potiphar's wife. "Any Dream Will Do" is a popular song written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice for the 1968 musical ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat''.
