Joseph R. Yost
Joseph R. Yost (born June 9, 1986, in Pearisburg, Virginia) is an American politician. A Republican, he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2011. He represented the 12th district from 2012 to 2018. Yost was indicted for embezzlement charges in January 2022. Early life and education After graduating from Giles High School in 2004, Yost received a B.S. degree from Radford University in 2006 and an M.A. in 2008, both in criminal justice. Career Yost became active with the Montgomery County Republican Committee in 2009. He was elected chair of the Roanoke/New River Valley Young Republicans in 2011. James Marshall Shuler (born December 31, 1943) is a retired American politician. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates 1994–2012, representing the 12th district in the western part of the state. Shuler is a member of the Democratic Party. Montgomery County is a county located in the Valley and Ridge area of the U.S. state of Virginia. As population in the area increased, Montgomery County was formed in 1777 from Fincastle County, which in turn had been taken from Botetourt County. As of the 2020 census, the population was 99,721. The Virginia House of Delegates is one of the two parts of the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. It has 100 members elected for terms of two years; unlike most states, these elections take place during odd-numbered years.
