Joseph Plant
Hugh Joseph Plant (12 October 1907 – 30 August 1993) was an Australian first-class cricketer who represented Victoria in the Sheffield Shield during the 1930s. Plant was educated at Xavier College who was initially an Australian rules footballer and played a senior match for Victorian Football League club Richmond in the 1925 VFL season. Richmond lost the fixture, which took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, to Melbourne by 39 points. He couldn't break into Richmond's team again and instead continued his football career at Coburg, where he played as a centre half back in their 1928 premiership side. Plant completed his football career in the 1929 season and in 1930 moved to the Fitzroy Baseball Club to begin a distinguished career as a baseballer. Narrandera, New South Wales
Narrandera ( ) until around 1949 also spelled "Narandera", is a town located in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales, Australia. The town lies on the junction of the Newell and Sturt highways, adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River, and it is considered the gateway to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. At the 2016 census, Narrandera had a population of 3,746 people. History Narrandera is a river town with a rich heritage. Captain Charles Sturt is credited with being the first European to observe the area that later was to become known as Narrandera. However Sturt, who passed through the district on 12 December 1829, was not the first explorer to cast eyes on the Murrumbidgee River. Eddie Paynter
Edward Paynter (5 November 1901 – 5 February 1979) was an English cricketer: an attacking batsman and excellent fielder. His Test batting average of 59.23 is the seventh highest of all time, and second only to Herbert Sutcliffe amongst Englishmen; against Australia alone Paynter averaged an extraordinary 84.42. Born in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, Paynter did not make his first-class debut for Lancashire County Cricket Club until the relatively advanced age of 24 in July 1926. He made a slow start to his career, however, not establishing himself as a first-team player until 1930 and only scoring his first century in July of the following year, making exactly 100 against Warwickshire in his 48th first-class match. He scored 102 against the touring New Zealanders in the very next game, and in August made his Test debut against the same opposition. Stuart Patrick King (22 April 1906 – 28 February 1943) was an Australian sportsman who played first-class cricket for Victoria and Australian rules football for Victorian Football League club St Kilda. Family The son of David James King (1873-), and Emily Mary King, née Matthews, later Mrs. Edwards, Stuart Patrick King was born in Ararat, Victoria on 22 April 1906. He married Kathleen Patricia Lightfoot (1911-) at Newman College's chapel on 14 January 1935. They had two children: Gerald and Diana. Education Educated at the University of Melbourne, he graduated Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1930, and was admitted to the bar on 1 May 1931.
