Joseph Petre, 17th Baron Petre
Joseph William Lionel, 17th Baron Petre (5 June 1914 – 1 January 1989) was an English peer. He was the patron of three livings but, being a Roman Catholic, could not present. Family He was the eldest child and only son of Lionel Petre, 16th Baron Petre, and his wife Catherine Boscawen. He succeeded to the title Lord Petre at only fifteen months old on 30 September 1915, after his father died in the First World War. During the Second World War, the 17th Baron served in the Coldstream Guards as a Second-Lieutenant, and later in the Essex Regiment as Captain of the 5th Battalion. Also during the war, in 1941, he married Marguerite Eileen Hamilton. Their son, the present Baron Petre, was born a year later. Wanganui’s tribute Mr. W.J. Patrick Casey (bishop Of Brentwood)
Patrick Joseph Casey (20 November 1913 – 26 January 1999) was an English prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Brentwood from 1969 to 1979. Casey was born in London on 20 November 1913, he was ordained to the priesthood on 3 June 1939. He was appointed an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Westminster and Titular Bishop of ''Sufar'' on 23 December 1965. His consecration to the Episcopate took place on 2 February 1966, the principal consecrator was Cardinal John Carmel Heenan, Archbishop of Westminster, and the principal co-consecrators were Bishop David Cashman of Arundel and Brighton and Archbishop Derek Worlock of Liverpool. Three years later, Casey was appointed the Bishop of the Diocese of Brentwood on 2 December 1969. John Patrick Lionel Petre, 18th Baron Petre, (born 4 August 1942) is a British peer and landowner who was the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, succeeding Robin Neville, 10th Baron Braybrooke in October 2002. He is the 18th Baron of the Petre family, an old recusant family. Early life Petre was on 4 August 1942, the only child of Joseph William Lionel Petre, 17th Baron Petre (1914–1989) and Marguerite Eileen (d. 2003), daughter of Ion Wentworth Hamilton, of Westwood, Nettlebed, Oxfordshire. His father served in World War II as a 2nd Lt. in the Coldstream Guards and as a Capt. in the 5th Battalion, Essex Regiment. Lionel George Carroll Petre, 16th Baron Petre
Captain Lionel George Carroll, 16th Baron Petre (3 November 1890 – 30 September 1915) was an English peer. Born in Wadhurst, Sussex in 1890, he was educated at the Oratory, Edgbaston & Sandhurst. There is a story that he originally intended to join the King's Royal Rifle Corps but was turned down he then joined the fourth Pioneer Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He became a lieutenant and finally a captain. In 1908, he became engaged to Catherine Margaret Boscawen (1891–1983), granddaughter of the 6th Viscount Falmouth, taking a diamond from an earring of the Petre jewels to make the ring. They married at Westminster Cathedral on 28 June 1913. He became the 16th Lord Petre after his father's death in December 1908. His father had taken over the title from his brother for only six months.
