Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Sr.
Joseph Patrick Kennedy (September 6, 1888 – November 18, 1969) was an American businessman, investor, and politician. He is known for his own political prominence as well as that of his children and was the patriarch of the Irish-American Kennedy family, which included President of the United States, President John F. Kennedy, United States Attorney General, Attorney General and United States Senate, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and longtime Senator Ted Kennedy, Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy. Kennedy was born into a political family in East Boston, Massachusetts. He made a large fortune as a stock market and commodity investor and later rolled over his profits by investing in real estate and a wide range of business industries across the United States.
