Joseph Massey (cricketer)
Joseph Massey (31 January 1895 – 9 August 1977) was an English first-class cricketer. Massey was born at Rochdale in January 1895. He played club cricket before and during the First World War in the northern leagues, before playing for Littleborough and Rochdale after the war in the Central Lancashire League, where he performed well. He then moved to Blackpool, where he played for twenty seasons. He was selected to play for Sir L. Parkinson's XI in 1933, making his debut in first-class cricket for the team against the touring West Indians at Blackpool in 1933. He made a second first-class appearance for the team in 1935, against Leicestershire at Blackpool. He scored a total of 65 runs in his two first-class matches, with a high score of 25. Rochdale ( ) is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, at the foothills of the South Pennines in the dale on the River Roch, northwest of Oldham and northeast of Manchester. Albert Lindsay Parkinson
Sir Albert Lindsay Parkinson (24 February 1870 – 3 February 1936), often known as Lindsay Parkinson, was a British businessman and Conservative Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Blackpool in Lancashire from 1918 until 1922. Biography Parkinson was born in Lytham St Annes#Lytham, Lytham to Jacob Parkinson, a joiner. The family moved to Blackpool in 1873. He left school at fourteen to join his father's business, Jacob Parkinson & Co., which later expanded into the building trade. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Leyland Motors
Leyland Motors Limited (later known as the Leyland Motor Corporation) was a British vehicle manufacturer of lorries, buses and trolleybuses. The company diversified into car manufacturing with its acquisitions of Triumph and Rover in 1960 and 1967, respectively. It gave its name to the British Leyland Motor Corporation, formed when it merged with British Motor Holdings in 1968, to become British Leyland after being nationalised. British Leyland later changed its name to simply BL, then in 1986 to Rover Group. Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire. Stanley Park is a public park in the town of Blackpool on the Fylde coast in Lancashire, England. It is the town's primary park and covers an area of approximately . The park was designed to include significant sporting provisions, along with formal gardens, a boating lake and woodland area. It was designed and built in the 1920s, under the eye of Thomas Mawson. It is located in the Great Marton and Layton areas of the town. It is Grade II* listed and is on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. The park's largest gardens feature a fountain built with Italian marble and a number of statues including a pair of Medici Lions. Blackpool Cricket Club
Blackpool Cricket Club is a cricket club based in Stanley Park, in Blackpool, Lancashire. Located in western quadrant of the park, the club plays at a 5,000-seater ground, which is regularly used for county cricket matches by Lancashire. The club's 1st and 2nd XI play in the ECB Northern Premier League while its 3rd XI and Sunday Development XI turn out in the Palace Shield, and its 4th XI in the Fylde League.
