Joseph John Annabring
Joseph John Annabring (March 19, 1900 – August 27, 1959) was a prelate of the Catholic Church who served as the seventh Bishop of the Diocese of Superior, in Superior, Wisconsin. Biography Born in Szataryliget, Hungary, he was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood for the Superior Diocese on May 3, 1927. On January 27, 1954, Pope Pius XII appointed him Bishop of the Superior Diocese, and he was consecrated on March 25, 1954. Bishop Annabring died in Superior. The Diocese of Superior ( la, Dioecesis Superiorensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church that encompasses the city of Superior and the counties of Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Lincoln, Oneida, Price, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, Taylor, Vilas, and Washburn in northern Wisconsin, with an area of . Its episcopal see is Superior, and the Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior is its mother church. It is a suffragan diocese of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Milwaukee. History The diocese was established on May 3, 1905 by Pope Pius X. The hierarchy of the Catholic Church consists of its bishops, priests, and deacons. In the ecclesiological sense of the term, "hierarchy" strictly means the "holy ordering" of the Church, the Body of Christ, so to respect the diversity of gifts and ministries necessary for genuine unity ().
