Joseph J. Barnicke
Joseph John Barnicke, (April 6, 1923 – May 19, 2015) was a Canadian entrepreneur. He is best known for establishing J.J. Barnicke Limited, a real estate firm, in 1959. Career Born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan, he attended public and high school in Oakville, Ontario. He was a Flying Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. From 1947 to 1957, he was a sales manager with O'Keefe Brewing Company. From 1957 to 1959, he was Vice President of Gibson Brothers. In 1959, he founded J.J. Barnicke Limited, growing it in time to become the largest independent real estate company in Canada. At the age of 84, in 2007 he sold the company to DTZ Holdings for nearly $27 million. He stayed on as chairman at DTZ Barnicke Ltd. and only stopped working in his final year. Cudworth, Saskatchewan
Cudworth () is a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada. Cudworth is located approximately 85 km north-east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in the Minnichinas Hills. Cudworth is in hilly partially forested country east of the South Saskatchewan River. The area is part of the aspen parkland biome. Cudworth had a population of 770 people in 2011. It has a public K-12 school, 60 local businesses and 3 churches serving the rural area surrounding it. It is surrounded by a large agricultural community. The first pioneers settled the area west of modern-day Cudworth in the late 19th century. German settlers arrived in 1903 and settled in nearby Leofeld, Saskatchewan. The Canadian Centre for Diversity (originally called the Canadian Council for Christians and Jews.) was founded in 1947 to address issues of antisemitism and promote interfaith dialogue. The mandate expanded in subsequent years to focus on addressing issues related to racism, and religious discrimination in Canadian society. Their primary focus was on providing school programs to educate students on issues related to bullying, bias and discrimination.
