Joseph Hughes (musician)
Joseph Hughes is a British bassist and songwriter, best known for being a member of the punk band the Flys and the new wave duo the Lover Speaks. Background Hughes began his musical career in the mid-1970s as bassist in the band Midnight Circus. In 1976, the band evolved into the punk group the Flys, which also featured Neil O'Connor and David Freeman. The band recorded a number of singles, two EPs; ''Bunch of Fives'' (1977) and ''Four from the Square'' (1980), and two studio albums; ''Waikiki Beach Refugees'' (1978) and ''Own'' (1979) After the band split in 1980, Hughes went on to play bass in Tearjerkers, a band formed by Roddy Radiation. In 1985, Hughes reunited with Freeman, who had suggested to him that they form a duo which became the Lover Speaks. Alison Moyet
Geneviève Alison Jane Ballard ( ; born 18 June 1961) is an English singer noted for her powerful bluesy contralto voice. She came to prominence as half of the duo Yazoo (also known as Yaz), but has since mainly worked as a solo artist. Her worldwide album sales have reached a certified 23 million, with over two million singles sold. All nine of her studio albums and three compilation albums have charted in the top 30 of the UK Albums Chart, with two of them reaching number one. Nashville is the capital city of the U.S. state of Tennessee and the seat of Davidson County. Exit/In is a music venue in Nashville, Tennessee. Exit/In is located on Elliston Place near Centennial Park and Vanderbilt University, west of downtown. It opened in 1971 under the management of Owsley Manier and Brugh Reynolds. As a small venue seating 200 or so, it developed its unique reputation in the 1970s because of the unusual things that occurred almost nightly. The club was expanded in the early 1980s to accommodate 500 patrons. In the early years, the establishment featured a variety of genres, ranging from bluegrass to jazz to stand-up comedy; in the latter category, Steve Martin was noted for his frequent shows there in the 1970s before attaining national fame.
