The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was the 51st edition of the event. Originally scheduled to begin on May 26 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 101 bracelet events on the schedule before the postponement. In June, the WSOP introduced the 2020 World Series of Poker Online, a series of 85 online tournaments, 31 on WSOP.com and 54 on GGPoker. The series started on July 1 and concluded in September. In November, the WSOP announced that the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event would still be held, but in a different format. The 2020 World Series of Poker Online was a series of online poker tournaments organized by the World Series of Poker (WSOP). It was held from July 1-September 8 and featured 85 bracelet events, 31 on WSOP.com and 54 on GGPoker. In June, the WSOP announced the series as a result of postponing the 2020 WSOP in Las Vegas, Nevada due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Events included the $50 Big 50, the lowest buy-in WSOP event in history, as well as four People's Choice tournaments that allowed players to vote on which game to play. The World Series of Poker Circuit is a series of poker tournaments held annually at a variety of casinos since 2005 as a build-up to the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Damian Salas (born 1975) is an Argentinian poker player from Chascomús. He won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2020, becoming the first person from Argentina to win the world championship of poker and the second person from South America to win the championship, after 2001 champion Carlos Mortensen. He made the Main Event final table in 2017, where he finished in 7th place earning $1,425,000. Salas is a lawyer in Argentina, and got his degree from the National University of La Plata.
