Joseph Girard (actor)
Joseph W. Girard (April 2, 1871 – August 21, 1949) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 280 films between 1911 and 1944. He was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. Before he became an actor, Girard was a printer who worked for newspapers until he and a partner set up their own printing business in Philadelphia. Girard had an interest in the theater, however, and eventually sold his part of the printing company and focused on acting. ''Bare Fists'' (also known as ''The Man Who Wouldn’t Shoot'') is a 1919 American Western film directed by John Ford and featuring Harry Carey. It is considered to be a lost film. John Ford and actor Harry Carey collaborated on at least 25 films in the years of 1917-1921. During these collaborations, Carey made more per film than Ford. By 1919 Ford was making 300 dollars a week, Carey was making 1,250. This differential in pay led to tension between the two. Plot The film takes place in a lawless town in southwestern Kansas during the era of outlaws and cowboys. ''Danger, Go Slow'' is a 1918 American silent comedy film directed by Robert Z. Leonard, and starring Mae Murray, Jack Mulhall and Lon Chaney. Robert Z. Leonard and Mae Murray co-wrote the screenplay together. The film is today considered lost. The film was in production from late March until late April 1918, but it was only released in December of that year. Chaney had a fairly small role in the film as an oil prospector. When he made this film, he was preparing to leave Universal over a salary dispute and he moved over to Paramount soon after to appear in their 1918 western film ''Riddle Gawne''. ''The Bride's Awakening'' is a 1918 American silent drama film released by Universal Pictures and produced by their Bluebird production unit. Robert Z.
