Joseph F. Radigan
Joseph F. Radigan (November 15, 1905 - August 1, 1975) was an American attorney and politician from Vermont. A Democrat, He is most notable for serving as United States Attorney for the District of Vermont from 1961 to 1969. Early life Joseph Francis Radigan was born in Rutland City, Vermont on November 15, 1905, a son of William H. Radigan and Mary Catherine (Ryan) Radigan. He attended St. Peters Catholic School and graduated from Rutland High School in 1924. He attended Saint Michael's College in Winooski, Vermont and the University of Notre Dame before beginning a legal career in 1927 by studying law at the Ludlow law firm of William W. Stickney, John G. Sargent, Homer L. Skeels, and Olin M. Jeffords. While living in Ludlow, Radigan was a member of the Vermont National Guard's Company B, 172nd Infantry Regiment. United States District Court For The District Of Vermont
The United States District Court for the District of Vermont (in case citations, D. Vt.) is the federal district court whose jurisdiction is the federal district of Vermont. The court has locations in Brattleboro, Burlington, and Rutland. The Court was created under the Judiciary Act of 1791 under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Circuit Court. Under the Midnight Judges Act, the Circuits were reorganised and this Court was assigned to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit where it has remained since. Originally created with one Judgeship, in 1966 a second Judgeship was added. Winooski is a city in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. Located on the Winooski River, as of the 2020 U.S. census the municipal population was 7,997. The city is the most densely populated municipality in northern New England, an area comprising the states of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Admission to the bar in the United States is the granting of permission by a particular court system to a lawyer to practice law in the jurisdiction and before those courts. Black River Academy
The Black River Academy is a historic school building on High Street in the village of Ludlow, Vermont. Chartered in 1835, the school served as the town high school until 1938. The present building, a Richardsonian Romanesque structure built in 1888, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 for its architectural and historic educational significance. It presently houses the Black River Academy Museum, operated by the Black River Historical Society. Description The Black River Academy building stands on the south side of High Street, a short way west of the Ludlow village green. It is a three-story masonry structure, built out of load-bearing brick set on a granite foundation. It has a gabled roof with projection hip-roofed sections, and a four-story tower at one corner, topped by a truncated pyramidal roof.
