Josep Maria Fusté
Josep Maria Fusté Blanch (born April 15, 1941) is a retired Spanish Association football, footballer who played as a midfielder and who was Captain (association football), captain of FC Barcelona during the 1960s and early 1970s. In 1964, together with Luis Suárez Miramontes, Luis Suárez, Amancio Amaro, José Ángel Iribar and his FC Barcelona teammate, Chus Pereda, he helped Spain national football team, Spain win the 1964 European Nations' Cup, European Championship. He also played for CA Osasuna and Hércules CF. After retiring as a player he worked as a public relations executive for ''Codorniu'', a Catalonia, Catalan sparkling wine company. He also served as president of the FC Barcelona veterans association and publicly supported Sixto Cambra, a Catalan nationalism, Catalan nationalist, who stood against Josep Lluís Nuñez in the 1989 FC Barcelona presidential elections. Catalan nationalism is the ideology asserting that the Catalans are a distinct nation. Intellectually, modern Catalan nationalism can be said to have commenced as a political philosophy in the unsuccessful attempts to establish a federal state in Spain in the context of the First Republic (1873-1874). Valentí Almirall i Llozer and other intellectuals that participated in this process set up a new political ideology in the 19th century, to restore self-government, as well as to obtain recognition for the Catalan language. The 1968–69 European Cup Winners' Cup was the ninth season of the European Cup Winners' Cup, a club football competition organised by UEFA for the cup winners from each of its member associations. The tournament was won by Czechoslovakian side Slovan Bratislava, who beat Spanish club Barcelona 3–2 in the final in Basel, Switzerland. It was the first time a club from the Eastern Bloc won the title.
