Josef Boyd
Josef A. Boyd (October 20, 1948 – May 27, 1998) was an American engineer employed by Honda R&D Americas in Torrance, California. He died in an accident involving another Honda employee, Dirk Vandenberg, while they were evaluating a pre-production version of the Honda CBR600F4 motorcycle. At the time of the accident, Mr Boyd was apparently photographing the motorcycle being ridden by Mr Vandenberg at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, California. Vandenberg also died in the accident. Dedications Following his death the words, "Dedicated to Super Evaluators Dirk Vandenberg and Josef Boyd", were embossed in raised letters on the inside of the Honda CBR600F4 The Honda CBR600F is a CBR series ' four-cylinder sport bike made by Honda. Rosamond, California
Rosamond is a unincorporated community in Kern County, California, US, near the Los Angeles county line. Rosamond is part of Greater Los Angeles and is located in the Mojave Desert just north of Lancaster and Palmdale, two of the largest cities in Antelope Valley. As of the 2010 Census, Rosamond's population was 18,150. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Rosamond as a census-designated place (CDP). Honda Valkyrie
The Honda Valkyrie is a motorcycle that was manufactured by Honda from 1997 to 2003. It was designated GL1500C in the US market and F6C ("Flat Six Custom") in other markets. The Valkyrie engine is a liquid-cooled, horizontally opposed flat-six engine shared with Honda's Gold Wing model, unlike the V-twin engine commonly found on "cruiser" style motorcycles. In its transplant from the Goldwing, the most notable engine changes were the camshaft and the change to six individual 28 mm carburetors, one for each cylinder, changes which increased power and torque. The Valkyrie was offered with a reverse gear in Japan. The Valkyrie was made in the United States at the Honda motorcycle plant in Marysville, Ohio. The Honda CBR600F is a CBR series ' four-cylinder sport bike made by Honda. The first model of the CBR600F was sold from 1987 to 1990 and is known in the US as the Hurricane. In Austria and Mexico, a smaller version, called CBR500F, was offered. The subsequent models are designated as CBR600F2, F3, F4 and F4i respectively. In 2011, Honda released a more modern model with the same name. The original CBR600F along with the CBR750F and CBR1000F was Honda's first inline four-cylinder, fully-faired sport bike.
