Jorn Vermeulen
Jorn Vermeulen (born 16 April 1987 in Torhout) is a Belgian football player who played for the national youth teams, played for 10 seasons for teams at the highest two levels of the Belgian football league system, and has semi-retired, currently playing for Nieuwpoort in the amateur Belgian Provincial Leagues. Career Vermeulen, a defender, began his youth career in 1993 with Club Brugge. During his junior career, Vermeulen played, in progressive years, for each of the Belgium national youth teams: Belgium U16, Belgium U17, Belgium U18, Belgium U19, Belgium U20 and Belgium U21. Vermeulen was promoted to Club Brugge's Jupiler League team, at the top of the Belgian football league system, for the 2006–07 season. Torhout (; french: Thourout; vls, Toeroet) is a city and municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Torhout proper, the villages of Wijnendale and Sint-Henricus, and the hamlet of De Driekoningen. On January 1, 2012, Torhout had a total population of 20,149. The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Contested by 18 clubs since the 2020–21 season and reduced to 16 teams from the 2023–24 season onwards, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Challenger Pro League. The Belgian Cup 2006–07 was the 52nd staging of the Belgian Cup which is the main knock-out football competition in Belgium, won by Club Brugge. The Belgian Cup (french: link=no, Coupe de Belgique; nl, Beker van België []; german: link=no, Belgischer Fußballpokal) is the main Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in Belgium, run by the Belgian Football Association, Royal Belgian FA. The competition started in 1908 with provincial selections as the "Belgian Provinces Cup". Starting from 1912 only actual clubs were allowed to partake. As of 1964, the Belgian Cup has been organised annually. Since the 2015–16 edition, the Belgian Cup is called the Croky Cup, for sponsorship purposes. The final traditionally takes place at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels. The most successful cup club is Club Bruges with 11 Belgian cups in their possession.
