Joris Note
Joris Note (born 1949, in Borgerhout) is a Belgian writer. He graduated in Germanic philology and started his career a scientific assistant ''Algemene Literatuurwetenschap'' and as a teacher. Together with Walter van den Broeck and Daniel Robberechts he was for several years an editor of the magazine ''Heibel''. He wrote articles for several newspapers and magazines. Borgerhout () is the smallest district of Antwerp, Belgium. , the district houses 45,769 inhabitants on 3,93 km². It was an independent municipality until January 1983. The postal area code for Borgerhout is 2140. Geography Borgerhout is divided into two parts by a highway and the historical walls. The part inside those walls is "intra muros," meaning (within the walls). It is built around a big boulevard, the Turnhoutsebaan. The Turnhoutsebaan is the biggest shopping street, offering both food and clothing, in both Belgian and foreigner's stores. "Intra muros" is the young and trendy part of Borgerhout, with a lot of so-called "hipster bars". Demographics Borgerhout has an extremely diverse population, with 63% percent of inhabitants having non-Belgian ancestry. Of the nine districts of Antwerp, it has the highest population density. Walter Stefaan Karel van den Broeck (born 28 March 1941 in Olen) is a Belgian writer and playwright. He graduated as a teacher in Dutch and History ( Lier), and he started his career as a teacher. In 1965, he founded the magazine '' Heibel'' with and . In 1974 he resigned as a teacher and became chief editor of ''Turnhout Ekspres'', and since 1979 he is a member of the editorial team of the ''Nieuw Vlaams Tijdschrift''. He became well known through his play '' Groenten uit Balen'' and the novel ''Brief aan Boudewijn'', which was succeeded by the tetralogy ''Het beleg van Laken''. In 2010 he wrote the script for a comic book by Reinhart. Flemish Literature
Flemish literature is literature from Flanders, historically a region comprising parts of present-day Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Until the early 19th century, this literature was regarded as an integral part of Dutch literature. After Belgium became independent from the Netherlands in 1830, the term Flemish literature acquired a narrower meaning and refers to the Dutch-language literature produced in Belgium. Flemish (''Vlaams'') is a Low Franconian dialect cluster of the Dutch language. It is sometimes referred to as Flemish Dutch (), Belgian Dutch ( ), or Southern Dutch (). Flemish is native to Flanders, a historical region in northern Belgium; it is spoken by Flemings, the dominant ethnic group of the region.
