Jordi Bertomeu
Jordi Bertomeu Orteu (born 15 January 1959) is a Spanish basketball administrator. He is the former President, Chairman, and CEO of Euroleague Basketball, which operates the professional European club competitions the EuroLeague and EuroCup. Biography Bertomeu was born on 15 January 1959, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Bertomeu earned a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Barcelona. From 1982 to 1994, he worked as the general counsel and general secretary of the ACB (Basketball Clubs Association), the organizing body of the Liga ACB, the top professional league in Spanish basketball. From 1994 to 2000, he worked as the vice president of the ACB. Euroleague Basketball is the private company that runs and operates the top continental-wide basketball men's professional sports club competitions in Europe, the first-tier level EuroLeague, and the second-tier level EuroCup. It has been organizing the EuroLeague competition since the year 2000, beginning with the 2000–01 season. Since 2002, it has also organized the EuroLeague Final Four. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. The 2021–22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague was the 22nd season of the modern era of the EuroLeague, and the 12th under the title sponsorship of the Turkish Airlines.
