Jordan Krestanovich
Jordan Krestanovich (born June 14, 1981) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who served as a player-head coach for the Braehead Clan in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Colorado Avalanche. Playing career As a youth, Krestanovich played in the 1994 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Surrey, British Columbia. Krestanovich was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the fifth round, 152nd overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Jordan played junior hockey with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, winning the President's Cup in 1999, prior to being drafted. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. 1999 NHL Entry Draft
The 1999 NHL Entry Draft was the 37th NHL Entry Draft. It was held on June 26 at the FleetCenter in Boston. According to ''Sports Illustrated'' and other sports news agencies, at the time the 1999 draft was considered one of the deepest in talent in years, headed by Patrik Stefan and the Sedin twins, Daniel and Henrik. As a result of the draft lottery, the first three picks going into draft day were held by the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Atlanta Thrashers expansion team, and the Vancouver Canucks, respectively. The Canucks were determined to select both Sedins and therefore initiated a trading carousel involving multiple teams. After the trading was done, the Lightning had traded out of the first round altogether while the Thrashers held the first overall pick. Pensacola Ice Pilots
The Pensacola Ice Pilots were a professional ice hockey team located in Pensacola, Florida. The team was previously affiliated with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders (2006–07), and the Chicago Blackhawks. They have also had a working agreement with the Houston Aeros of the AHL for the 04–05 season. On June 23, 2008, the ECHL announced that it had terminated the Ice Pilots' membership, effective immediately. The team's colors (navy blue and gold) and nickname were a tribute to the long history of Naval aviation in Pensacola (Naval Air Station Pensacola is home to the legendary Blue Angels and the National Museum of Naval Aviation). Houston Aeros (1994–2013)
The Houston Aeros were a professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League (IHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). The team played in Houston, Texas, at The Summit (renamed Compaq Center in 1998) from 1994 until 2003 and the Toyota Center from 2003 to 2013. Chris Bala
Christopher B. Bala (born September 24, 1978) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He played minor hockey in Pennsylvania before being recruited by Harvard University to play college hockey. After four years with Harvard, Bala, who was drafted 58th overall by the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, joined the Senators and appeared in six games. He then the following seasons playing for the minor league affiliates of the Senators, Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche in the American Hockey League. He was named an AHL All-Star in his rookie season in the AHL. He finished his career playing for the Reading Royals of the ECHL. 2003–04 NHL Season
The 2003–04 NHL season was the 87th regular season of the National Hockey League. The Stanley Cup champions were the Tampa Bay Lightning, who won the best of seven series four games to three against the Calgary Flames. For the fourth time in eight years, the all-time record for total shutouts in a season was shattered, as 192 shutouts were recorded. Ed Chynoweth Cup
The Ed Chynoweth Cup is an ice hockey club championship trophy awarded to the playoff champion of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Originally called the President's Cup when the league was founded in 1966, the trophy was renamed in 2007 to honour Ed Chynoweth's long service to junior hockey in Canada. The WHL champion earns a berth into the Memorial Cup tournament, Canada's major junior championship.
