Jorcks Passage
Jorcks Passage is a passageway and associated building in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It connects the pedestrian street Strøget to Skindergade at the end of Fiolstræde. History Construction Jorcks Passage takes its name after the developer and sugar goods manufacturer Reinholdt W. Jorck. In 1880, Jorck purchased a property on the other side of Strøget (47 Vimmelskaftet) which was rented out to the newly founded telephone company KTAS. Jorck built the Jorcks Passage complex when the company ran out of space at their old building. He commissioned Vilhelm Dahlerup to design the building which was constructed between 1893 and 1895. KTAS KTAS opened their first telephone exchange in the premises in 1896. Literally thousands of telephone wires extended from a structure on the roof to customers in the vicinity. Danmarks Radio
DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union. DR was originally funded by a media licence, however since 2022, the media license has been replaced by an addition to the Danish income tax. Neye, formerly Johannes Neye is a luggage manufacturer and retailer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company currently operates 40 retail locations selling product assortments from its own brand as well as a wide range of international brands. History The company was founded when Johannes Neye opened a "galantry shop" at Vimmelskaftet 28 in 1881. He opened his second shop at Nygade 3 just half a year later. The company started its own production of leather products in 1891. Elephant Gate And Tower, Carlsberg
The Elephant Tower (Danish: ''Elefanttårnet'') (also known as the Elephant Gate (Danish: ''Elefantporten'')) is the most famous landmark of the Carlsberg district in Copenhagen, Denmark, the original brewery site of the Carlsberg Breweries (the area is now under redevelopment as a new neighbourhood). The tower takes its name from four large granite elephants which flank the gate, standing back to back carrying the tower on their backs. History Completed in 1901, the Elephant Tower was built at the same time as the Ny Carlsberg Brewhouse. The architect was Vilhelm Dahlerup, who also worked on the previous stages but not the new brewhouse which was designed by Vilhelm Klein. Baron Boltens Gård is a historic house at 8 Gothersgade in central Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as a passageway that connects Gothersgade to Store Kongensgade. In recent years the name has also referred to an entertainment cluster located at the same address.
