Joost Posthuma
Joost Posthuma (born 8 March 1981) is a Dutch retired professional road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 2004 and 2012. Born in Hengelo, Posthuma was known for his time-trialling and he wore the white jersey for the best young rider at the 2006 Tour de France. Posthuma set the best time for riders eligible for the young rider classification in the prologue, but lost it after the 1st road stage, after a rival got in a breakaway and got bonus seconds on the road. Four Days Of Dunkirk
The Four Days of Dunkirk (french: Quatre Jours de Dunkerque) is road bicycle race around the Nord-Pas de Calais region of northern France. Despite the name of the race, since the addition of an individual time trial in 1963, the race has been held over a 5 or 6 day period for most of its history. The general classification is the most important classification, the one by which the winner of the Tour de France is determined. Since 1919, the leader of the general classification wears the yellow jersey (french: maillot jaune ). History The winner of the first Tour de France wore a green armband, not a yellow jersey. General Classification In The Giro D'Italia
The general classification in the Giro d'Italia is the most important classification of the Giro d'Italia, which determines who is the overall winner. It is therefore considered more important than secondary classifications as the points classification or the mountains classification. Since 1931, the leader of the general classification is identified by a pink jersey ( it, maglia rosa ). Prior to that year and since the creation of the race, no colour was used to distinguish the winner at the top of the classification. In road bicycle racing, a Grand Tour is one of the three major European professional cycling stage races: Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España. Collectively they are termed the ''Grand Tours'', and all three races are similar in format, being three-week races with daily stages. They have a special status in the UCI regulations: more points for the UCI World Tour are distributed in Grand Tours than in other races, and they are the only stage races allowed to last longer than 14 days. All three races have a substantial history, with the Tour de France first held in 1903, Giro d'Italia first held in 1909 and the Vuelta a España first held in 1935. The 2012 Bayern Rundfahrt was the 33rd edition of the Bayern Rundfahrt, an annual cycling road race. Departing from Traunstein on 22 May, it concluded in Bamberg on 27 May. The 801.9 km long stage race was part of the 2012 UCI Europe Tour, and was rated as a 2.HC event. Michael Rogers of Team Sky was the eventual winner. 2011 Tour Of Britain
The 2011 Tour of Britain was the eighth running of the latest incarnation of the Tour of Britain and the 72nd British tour in total. The race started on 11 September in Peebles, Scotland and finished on 18 September in London, England, with the race also visiting Wales for one stage. The race consisted of eight stages – down from the original itinerary of nine stages due to bad weather – and included the Tour's first individual time trial since 2007, as part of two stages on the race's final day, with a criterium to finish the race. The race was held as part of the 2010–2011 UCI Europe Tour, and was categorised by the UCI as a 2.1 category race.
