Jones Cup Invitational
The Jones Cup Invitational is an annual amateur golf tournament. It has been played since 2001 at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia. It was originally biannual but it became an annual event in 2009. It is an individual 54-hole stroke-play competition. It is a "category A" tournament in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, meaning it is one of the top 30 men's amateur tournaments in the world. Sea Island is a privately owned, unincorporated area of Glynn County, Georgia, and is part of the Golden Isles of Georgia, which include St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Little St. Simons Island, and the mainland city of Brunswick. Gregg Jones (born 1959) is an American journalist and the author of three critically acclaimed non-fiction books. Nicholas Thompson (born December 25, 1982) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. Thompson was born in Plantation, Florida. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 2005 with a degree in business management and was a member of the 2002 ACC championship team. He turned professional after graduating. Luke List (born January 14, 1985) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Amateur career List was born in Seattle, Washington. Kyle Stanley (born November 19, 1987) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Amateur career Stanley was born in Gig Harbor, Washington. He was a 2002 graduate of St. Charles Borromeo elementary and middle school and a 2006 graduate of Bellarmine Preparatory School (both Catholic schools located in Tacoma, Washington). John Peterson (born April 18, 1989) is an American professional golfer. Peterson was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He played college golf at Louisiana State University. At LSU, he was a three-time All-American and won twice, including the 2011 NCAA Division I Championship. Peterson turned professional in 2011.
