Jonathas De Jesus
Jonathas Cristian de Jesus (born 6 March 1989), sometimes known as just Jonathas, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Sèrie C club Náutico. In his career, he played top-flight football in his own country, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Russia and Germany and India. He recorded figures of 61 games and 21 goals in La Liga for Elche and Real Sociedad. Club career Early career Jonathas de Jesus played in Cruzeiro's youth teams and a few times in the senior team. He was also loaned out to Ipatinga and Villa Nova. In October 2008 he was signed by Dutch Eredivisie champions, AZ Alkmaar. Cruzeiro announced that AZ bought 65% player's rights for €600,000 and the Brazilian club retained the rest. Jonathas de Jesus made his debut for AZ on 28 October 2009, in the KNVB Cup match against Spakenburg, scoring in a 5–2 away win. Jonathas Granville
Pierre Joseph Marie Granville, known as Jonathas Granville (1785–1839) was a Haitian educator, legal expert, soldier and a diplomat. He was born a free mulatto in Saint-Domingue. He was a musician and poet, skilled swordsman, an experienced diplomat, and civil servant. From about 1806 to 1815, Granville served under Napoleon as a junior officer during the emperor's campaigns in Germany, France, and Austria. After the Bourbon Restoration, he returned to Haiti with his mother and sisters where he quickly entered in the service of Alexandre Pétion's government. In 1824 he visited the United States, to promote the emigration of free Blacks to Haiti. At his return, in 1825, he established a private school, which will become known as the Granville Institute, before being asked to lead the National Lycee in Port-au-Prince. ''David et Jonathas'' (''David and Jonathan''), H. 490, is an opera in five acts and a prologue by the French composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier, first performed at the Collège Louis-le-Grand, Paris, on 28 February 1688. The libretto, by Father François Bretonneau, is based on the Old Testament story of the friendship between David and Jonathan. Although the opera takes the form of a typical French ''tragédie en musique'' it has also been referred to as a ''tragédie biblique'' because of its Biblical subject matter. ''David et Jonathas'' was first performed at a Jesuit college in combination with a spoken drama in Latin, ''Saul'', by Father Étienne Chamillard (1656–1730). Each act of the opera was followed by one act from the play. Charpentier's work was so successful, it was reprised at other Jesuit colleges in 1706, 1715 and 1741.
