Jonathan Shaw (British Army Officer)
Major-General Jonathan David Shaw (born 22 November 1957) is a former British Army officer. Military career Educated at Sedbergh School and Trinity College, Oxford, where he studied PPE, Shaw was commissioned into the Parachute Regiment in 1981. He was a platoon commander with 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment during the Falklands War. Having attended Staff College, Camberley between 1989 and 1990, he was appointed Commanding Officer of 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment in 1997. After attending the Higher Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in 2000, he was made Commander of 12th (Mechanized) Brigade in 2002 and subsequently commanded the Multi-National Brigade (Centre) in Kosovo. The United States secretary of defense (SecDef) is the head of the United States Department of Defense, the executive department of the U.S. Armed Forces, and is a high ranking member of the federal cabinet. An officer is a person who holds a position of authority as a member of an armed force or uniformed service. Broadly speaking, "officer" means a commissioned officer, a non-commissioned officer, or a warrant officer. However, absent contextual qualification, the term typically refers only to a force's ''commissioned officers'', the more senior members who derive their authority from a commission from the head of state. Numbers The proportion of officers varies greatly. Commissioned officers typically make up between an eighth and a fifth of modern armed forces personnel. Adrian Bradshaw
General Sir Adrian John Bradshaw, (born 1958) is a former British Army officer who served as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe. He also served as Director Special Forces from 2006 to 2009 and Commander Land Forces in 2013. Early life Bradshaw was educated at Bloxham School, received a BSc degree from the University of Reading in 1979, and obtained an MSc degree in Defence Studies in 1991 as well an MA degree in International Relations in 2005, both from King's College London. Military career Bradshaw was commissioned into the 14th/20th King's Hussars in 1980. In 1994 he became Commanding Officer of the King's Royal Hussars commanding the KRH Battlegroup in Bosnia. On promotion to Brigadier he became Senior Advisor to the ''Combined Forces Air Component Command'' preparing for the invasion of Iraq.
