Jonathan Scott (orientalist)
Jonathan Scott (1754–1829) was an English orientalist, best known for his translation of the ''Arabian Nights''. Life Born at Shrewsbury, he was the third son of Jonathan Scott of Shrewsbury by Mary, daughter of Humphrey Sandford of the Isle near the town. John Scott-Waring was his eldest brother. Scott received his first education in the Shrewsbury Royal Free Grammar School, but left in his thirteenth year to travel to India with his two elder brothers, John and Richard. Jonathan was gazetted to a cadetcy in 1770, and two years later to an ensigncy in the 29th native infantry of the Carnatic. He became a lieutenant in 1777, and captain in 1778. He gained the patronage of Warren Hastings, then governor-general of Bengal, who appointed him his Persian secretary. Scott in 1784 took part in founding the Royal Asiatic Society of Bengal, of which body he remained a member until 1799. Jonathan Scott (zoologist)
Jonathan Scott (born 1949 in London) is an English zoologist, wildlife photographer and television presenter specializing in African wildlife. Life Jonathan Scott was brought up on a farm in Berkshire, England and educated at Christ's Hospital School and Queen's University, Belfast. Jonathan and his wife Angela, who is also an award winning wildlife photographer, have a permanent base at Governor's Camp in the Maasai Mara National Game Reserve in southwest Kenya. They live in the suburb of Langata close to Nairobi National Park. Much of their work focuses on big cats, though they also enjoy spending time with the Maasai people and their families who live in the area surrounding the Maasai Mara. Living in Kenya Jonathan travelled from London to Johannesburg in 1974 and has lived in Africa ever since. Jonathan Palmer Scott (Jon Scott) is a Republican politician and was the party's nominee against Patrick J Kennedy in Rhode Island's 1st congressional district, in both 2006 and 2008. Background Scott was born in 1966 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Mary Lou Gilbert, a single mother and former Ice Capades skater and instructor. He described his mother, during a radio interview on Rhode Island's WPRO, as "amazingly industrious". According to his account, she had dropped out of Hope High School in Providence in order to pursue her skating career and received her GED. Jonathan Silver Scott (born April 28, 1978) is a Canadian reality television personality, construction contractor, illusionist, and television and film producer. He is best known as the co-host, with his twin brother Drew, of the TV series ''Property Brothers,'' as well as the program's spin-offs such as ''Buying and Selling'', ''Brother Vs. Brother'', ''Forever Homes'' and ''Property Brothers: At Home'', which are broadcast in the U.S. on HGTV. Jonathan Ray Scott (born January 10, 1983) is a former American football offensive tackle. He played college football for the University of Texas where he was recognized as a unanimous All-American and helped win the 2005 BCS Championship. He had an eight-year, injury-plagued pro football career during which he played for the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted by the Lions in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL Draft and was the starting left tackle for the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. Early years Scott was born in Dallas, Texas.
