Jonathan O'Callaghan
Jonathan O'Callaghan (born January 1978) is an Irish former hurler who played for club team Castletownroche, divisional side Avondhu and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a forward. Career O'Callaghan first came to hurling prominence at juvenile and underage levels with Castletownroche. He progressed onto the club's top adult team and bookended his career with Cork JBHC title success in 1998 and 2019. He also earned selection with the Avondhu divisional side. O'Callaghan first enjoyed success on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork intermediate hurling team and won All-Ireland Intermediate Championships in 2001 and 2003. He immediately joined the Cork senior hurling team and was an unused substitute when the team won consecutive All-Ireland Championship titles in 2004 and 2005. Castletownroche Hurlers
Castletownroche () is a townland, village, and civil parish in the barony of Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland. It is located on the N72 national secondary road. In ancient times, it was known in Irish as ''Dún Chruadha'', meaning Cruadha's Fort. Castletownroche is located on the River Awbeg in the Blackwater Valley about eight miles (13 km) from Mallow. Castletownroche is within the Cork East Dáil constituency. History de la Roch The first historical record about Castletownroche is from the late 13th century when the Anglo-Norman family of de la Roche established a fortress here. They were descendants of Richard FitzGodebert (Richard, son of Godebert) who came with Strongbow to Ireland. Their family had a castle in Pembrokeshire that was built upon an outcrop of stone and they became known as FitzGodebert de la Roch (FitzGodebert of the Rock). The 1999 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 16th staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1961. The championship began on 30 May 1999 and ended on 25 September 1999. Limerick entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Waterford in the Munster first round. The All-Ireland final was played on 25 September 1999 at St. Brendan's Park in Birr, between Galway and Kilkenny, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Galway won the match by 3-13 to 2-10 to claim their first ever championship title. Kilkenny's Ollie O'Connor was the championship's top scorer with 2-28. Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Munster Hurling Intermediate Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1961 for the strong hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland. In some cases the teams consist of players who are not on the senior squads for their county (thus in effect, they are a second team), or in others of players who are from junior or intermediate clubs. The competition was established to prevent the stronger counties from dominating the Munster Junior Hurling Championship. The series of games are played during the summer months with the Munster final currently being played in July. The prize for the winning team is the Sweet Afton Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the series. The 2001 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 18th staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1961. The 2005 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 119th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887.
