Jonathan Northcroft
Jonathan Northcroft is a Scottish sports journalist and author. He is currently the Chief Football Writer for ''The Sunday Times''. Education Northcroft first attended Newtonhill Primary School, where he regularly turned class writing assignments into yet another opportunity to write on football. His earliest effort came at the age of six with his review of the 1978 FIFA World Cup, entitled 'The Caterpillar Who Went to Argentina'. For his Secondary schooling he went to Mackie Academy, Stonehaven, where he left as Dux in 1990. Northcroft graduated with an MA in English literature from the University of Edinburgh in 1993. He then completed a postgraduate diploma in journalism at the Scottish Centre for Journalism Studies. The Sunday Times
''The Sunday Times'' is a British newspaper whose circulation makes it the largest in Britain's quality press market category. It was founded in 1821 as ''The New Observer''. Alex Ferguson
Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson (born 31 December 1941) is a Scottish former football manager and player, best known for managing Manchester United from 1986 to 2013. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time and has won more trophies than any other manager in the history of football. Ferguson is often credited for valuing youth during his time with Manchester United, particularly in the 1990s with the " Class of '92", who contributed to making the club one of the richest and most successful in the world. Ferguson played as a forward for several Scottish clubs, including Dunfermline Athletic and Rangers. While playing for Dunfermline, he was the top goalscorer in the Scottish league in the 1965–66 season. Aberdeen FC
Aberdeen Football Club is a Scottish professional football club based in Aberdeen, Scotland. They compete in the Scottish Premiership and have never been relegated from the top division of the Scottish football league system since they were promoted in 1905. Aberdeen have won four Scottish league titles, seven Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups. They are also the only Scottish team to have won two European trophies, having won the European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup in 1983. The Football Supporters' Federation (FSF) is an organisation representing football fans in England and Wales. The Sports Book Awards (previously National Sporting Club Book Awards then Telegraph Sports Book Awards) is a British literary award for sports writing. It was first awarded in 2003 as part of the National Sporting Club. Awards are presented in multiple categories. Each category is judged by one of: sports writers and broadcasters, retailers and enthusiasts. The winners from each category are then opened to public vote through a website to choose an overall winner. The other major sports writing award in Britain is the William Hill Sports Book of the Year. The award was founded by David H. Willis. The Game (podcast)
The Game podcast is a free to download association football podcast produced by ''The Times'' newspaper and co-hosted during the 2018-19 season by Natalie Sawyer and Gabriele Marcotti. Launched in September 2006 following a pitch by Marcotti and Guillem Balagué, and formerly hosted by Balague, Danny Kelly and Phill Jupitus, the podcast has been described by Barry Glendenning as featuring “some of the most knowledgeable voices in British football journalism”. Episodes were released weekly during the football season but production increased with the introduction of Sawyer and became daily during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and twice weekly from August 2018 to coincide with the start of the 2018-19 football season, becoming available on Mondays and Thursdays.
