Jonathan Cohen is a British pianist, composer and musical director.Ruth Inglis ''The window in the corner: a half-century of children's television'' - 2003 - Page 51 "Jonathan did the accompaniments for ''Jackanory'', in which a personality, usually a West End star, read a story to the children. ... Jonathan Cohen says that everyone on ''Play School'' had a cut-glass educated accent and used 'received English." He is known for his work on many BBC children's programmes from the 1960s to the 1990s, including '' Play School'', ''Playbus'' (latterly ''Playdays''), ''Play Away'', ''Rentaghost'' and ''Jackanory''. He appeared as a pianist on programmes such as ''Play Away'' and also presented some of the musical items. Greenclaws
''Greenclaws'' is a children's television series aired on the BBC between 3 January 1989 and 6 February 1990. It starred Nick Mercer and Stella Goodier, was written by Ursula Jones, directed by Adrian Mills, and produced by Christine Hewitt. Content Greenclaws, played by Nick Mercer, was a big green monster who lived in a greenhouse. Every week, Iris (Stella Goodier) would visit Greenclaws. They would put one of Greenclaws' fabulous seeds in a plant pot, put the plant pot inside a secret growing place in the Riddle Tree, wait for Owlma (a mechanical owl) to alert them that the plant was ready, answer three riddles/questions correctly from Owlma (which were always along the lines of "Twit twoo, twoo, twit twit twoo?" and then translated into English by Iris for her and Greenclaws to solve), then open the tree to find the plant had grown into something bearing unusual fruit. ''Julia Jekyll and Harriet Hyde'' was a British children's television series which aired on BBC One (via Children's BBC and later CBBC) in the UK for 53 episodes between 1995 and 1998. ''Monster Café '' is a Children's BBC comedy programme about three monsters working in Monster Café, where they meet weird monsters, serve weird food and battle with their evil boss, the Baroness. The series was repeated on CBBC On Choice between 2000 and 2001, and on CBeebies in November 2007, but after complaints on the BBC Message Boards and direct to the BBC regarding how the programme "scared young children", it was pulled from the schedule after 4 episodes were shown. ''Step Inside'' is a British children's television programme produced by Tricorn Productions for CBeebies in 2001 before the channel's launch, and aired between February and April 2002.
