Jonathan Clark (soldier)
Jonathan Clark (August 1, 1750 – November 25, 1811) was an American soldier. After serving as captain, major and colonel in the American Revolutionary War, he rose to the rank of major-general. He was the older brother of fellow soldiers George Rogers Clark, General George Rogers Clark and Captain William Clark (explorer), William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Early life and education Clark was the oldest brother of the children of John Clark and Ann Rogers, was born in Albemarle County, Virginia on August 1, 1750. He received a fair English education, and, in time, became a lawyer, and a successful man of business. He was the prudent, practical business man of the elder portion of the numerous children of John Clark, as his brother William was of the younger. When quite young he spent some time in the office of the clerk of Spottsylvania county, Virginia, as deputy clerk. Jonathan Clark (footballer)
Jonathan Clark (born 12 November 1958) is a Welsh former footballer. His regular position was as a midfielder. He played for in the English Football League for Manchester United, Derby County, Preston North End, Bury, and Carlisle United. Club career Clark was in Manchester United's youth set-up and made his first-team debut in a First Division match against Sunderland on 10 November 1976 at the age of 17. It was to be his only first-team appearance for the club. He joined Derby County for £50,000 in September 1978, playing with the club in the First and Second Division until 1981. During his time with Preston North End, he was the club's player of the year for the 1984–85 season. Management career The following season he served as the club's caretaker manager including a spell where the club won five matches in a row. Jonathan Dunnett Clark (born 1961) is a retired Anglican bishop serving as the Bishop for the Falkland Islands. He was previously area Bishop of Croydon in the Church of England Diocese of Southwark, 2012–2022. An Anglo-Catholic, he was rector general of the Society of Catholic Priests from 2005 to 2008 and chair of Affirming Catholicism from 2008 to 2012 Early life Clark was born in 1961. He was educated at Alleyn's School, then a direct grant grammar school in Dulwich, London, from 1972 to 1979. He studied English literature at Exeter University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1983.
