Jonathan Broxton
Jonathan Roy Broxton (born June 16, 1984) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals. High school career Broxton attended Burke County High School in Waynesboro, Georgia. As a senior for the Bears, he posted a 9–2 record and a 1.21 earned run average as a pitcher. As a hitter, he had a .596 batting average with seven home runs. As a teenager, Broxton stood tall, weighed and was athletic enough to dunk a basketball with two hands. The Georgia Southern Eagles baseball team is the intercollegiate baseball team representing Georgia Southern University. It began in 1933. The program competes in NCAA Division I. The team is led by head coach Rodney Hennon, who is in his 22nd year at Georgia Southern. The Eagles are part of the Sun Belt Conference. College Baseball
College baseball is baseball that is played on the intercollegiate level at institutions of higher education. In comparison to football and basketball, college competition in the United States plays a smaller role in developing professional players, as baseball's professional minor leagues are more extensive, with a greater history of supplying players to MLB. Moving directly from high school to the professional level is more common in baseball than in football or basketball. However, if players do opt to enroll at a four-year college to play baseball, they must complete three years to regain professional eligibility, unless they reach age 21 before starting their third year of college.
