Jon McNaughton
Jon McNaughton is an American artist and Republican. He is known for his paintings depicting American conservative political figures, in particular prominent Republican Party (United States), Republicans, and Christian imagery. He subsequently launched an anti-establishment artistic line advocating for a regime change. Career McNaughton is from Provo, Utah, and studied art at Brigham Young University. After graduating, he worked in finance for eight years, planning on saving up money before working in art full time. His early work mainly dealt with landscapes, and religious and Mormon-related subjects, which over time moved towards right-wing politics. He painted his first political artworks during the 2008 US presidential election, and then came to prominence in 2009 during the Obama presidency, when he started painting more conservative-leaning political scenes. "Owning the libs" is a political strategy used by some Conservatism in the United States, conservatives in the United States that focuses on upsetting modern liberalism in the United States, American liberals. Users of the strategy emphasize and expand upon culture war issues intended to be divisive to provoke a reaction in others, much akin to "Trolling" on the internet. Joseph Harry Anderson (August 11, 1906 – November 19, 1996) was an American illustrator and a member of the Illustrator's Hall of Fame.
