Jon Harris (American Football)
Jonathan Cecil Harris (born June 9, 1974) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and the Green Bay Packers. He played college football at the University of Virginia and was drafted in the first round (25th overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft. He currently resides in Swedesboro, New Jersey. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. When most teams adopted a five-man line, two different styles of end play developed: "crashing" ends, who rushed into the backfield to disrupt plays, and "stand-up" or "waiting" ends, who played the more traditional containment style. The National Football League Draft, also called the NFL Draft or (officially) the Player Selection Meeting, is an annual event which serves as the league's most common source of player recruitment. Each team is given a position in the drafting order in reverse order relative to its record in the previous year, which means that the last place team is positioned first and the Super Bowl champion is last. High school career Michels attended La Jolla High School, where he was a three time letterman in football, basketball, and track. In football, he was a two-way starter and was named First-team All-American and Western League Defensive MVP as a defensive tackle, and First-team All-San Diego County as an offensive tackle.
