Jon Debus
Jon Debus (born August 31, 1958 in Chicago Heights, Illinois) is an American former Minor League Baseball catcher, first baseman, third baseman, outfielder, coach, and manager. In 2011, he served as bullpen coach for the NY Mets. Biography Debus was originally drafted as an outfielder by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 21st round of the 1980 MLB Draft out of College of St. Francis. He played in the Dodgers minor league system from 1980-1989. After his playing career ended, he became a coach and then a Manager in the Dodgers minor league system. He was also the General Manager of the Elmira Pioneers from 2000–2001, and the Minor League catching coordinator for the Dodgers from 2002–2004. After decades in the minors, Debus became bullpen coach for the Dodgers in 2005, manager Jim Tracy telling the ''Los Angeles Times'' on April 1, 2005, "It was time he was rewarded for his loyalty to the organization." Chicago Heights is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 27,480 at the 2020 census. In earlier years, Chicago Heights was nicknamed "The Crossroads of the Nation". Currently, it is nicknamed "The Heights". Geography Chicago Heights lies on the high land of the Tinley Moraine, with the higher and older Valparaiso Moraine lying just to the south of the city. The San Antonio Missions are a Minor League Baseball team of the Texas League and the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. They are located in San Antonio, Texas, and are named for the Spanish missions around which the city was founded. The Missions play their home games at Nelson W. The Albuquerque Dukes were a minor league baseball team based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. History The first Dukes team was formed in 1915 as part of the Class D Rio Grande Association. The team finished in third place with a 32-25 record. Frank Huelman was the league leader in home runs, hitting 10 dingers for the season. These Dukes folded that same year. Albuquerque was host to two other Class D minor-league teams (the Dons and the Albuquerque Cardinals, the latter for which Tingley Field was built) before the Dukes returned in 1942, this time with the Class D West Texas–New Mexico League. The Dukes went 24-30, but withdrew from competition in June of that year.
