Jomo Kenyatta
Jomo Kenyatta (22 August 1978) was a Kenyan anti-colonial activist and politician who governed Kenya as its Prime Minister from 1963 to 1964 and then as its first President from 1964 to his death in 1978. He was the country's first indigenous head of government and played a significant role in the transformation of Kenya from a colony of the British Empire into an independent republic. Ideologically an African nationalist and conservative, he led the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party from 1961 until his death. Kenyatta was born to Kikuyu farmers in Kiambu, British East Africa. Educated at a mission school, he worked in various jobs before becoming politically engaged through the Kikuyu Central Association. Jomo Kwame Sundaram ( ta, ஜோமோ குவாமே சுந்தரம், Jōmō Kuvāmē Cuntaram) (born 1 December 1952), fondly known just as Jomo, is a prominent Malaysian economist. He is a senior adviser at the Khazanah Research Institute, visiting fellow at the Initiative for Policy Dialogue, Columbia University, and an adjunct professor at the International Islamic University (IIUM). Education Jomo spent his early years studying at Westlands Primary School (1959–63), the Penang Free School (1964–66) and the Royal Military College (1967–70), when he was selected as Malaysia's delegate to the World Youth Forum in 1970. Ephraim Matsilele Sono OIS (born Madoda Walletjies Mkulwana, 17 July 1955), better known as Jomo Sono, is a South African football club owner, coach and former professional footballer. He has been variously nicknamed the "Black Prince of South African Soccer", "Bra J" and "Mjomana". Early life and football career Sono was born in Queenstown, South Africa. When he was eight years old, his father Eric Bhamuza Sono, who was a midfielder for the Orlando Pirates football team in the early 1960s, died as a result of a car crash. Soon after, his mother abandoned him. Jomo Gamal Thomas is an American businessman, attorney, and author based in New York City. Early life Thomas was born in the Bronx, New York on January 31, 1974. He grew up in Roosevelt and Uniondale. Jomo Wilson (born September 22, 1983) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He played for the University of Toledo before transferring to Eastern Oregon University. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Central Valley Coyotes in 2007. In 2009, Wilson signed with the Boise Burn. He then moved on to the Jacksonville Sharks where he played for two years, 2010 and 2011. In 2011, Jomo hauled in 131 receptions for 1737 yards and 44 touchdowns, helping his team win ArenaBowl XXIV.
