Jokebook
''Jokebook'' is an American adult animated comedy series produced by Hanna-Barbera. It aired on NBC for three episodes from April 23 to May 7, 1982. Format The series' theme song was sung by Scatman Crothers. ''Jokebook'' was an anthology of segments produced by Hanna-Barbera, along with classic, foreign, and independent animation which had originated elsewhere. Unusually for a Hanna-Barbera production, it was aimed at an adult audience (the first Hanna-Barbera production to be so after ''The Flintstones'' and ''Top Cat'' started being shown on Saturday mornings). It was the only Hanna-Barbera production not to have recurring characters. It was founded on July 7, 1957, by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera following the decision of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to close its in-house cartoon studio. An anthology series is a radio, television, video game or film series that spans different genres and presents a different story and a different set of characters in each different episode, season, segment, or short. These usually have a different cast in each episode, but several series in the past, such as ''Four Star Playhouse'', employed a permanent troupe of character actors who would appear in a different drama each week. Scatman Crothers
Benjamin Sherman Crothers (May 23, 1910 – November 22, 1986), known professionally as Scatman Crothers, was an American actor and musician. He is known for playing Louie the Garbage Man on the TV show ''Chico and the Man'', and Dick Hallorann in Stanley Kubrick's '' The Shining'' (1980). He was also a prolific voice-over actor who provided the voices of Meadowlark Lemon in the ''Harlem Globetrotters'' animated TV series, Jazz the Autobot in '' The Transformers'' and '' The Transformers: The Movie'' (1986), the title character in ''Hong Kong Phooey'', and Scat Cat in the animated film ''The Aristocats'' (1970). ''Top Cat'' is an American animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and originally broadcast in prime time on the ABC network. It aired in a weekly evening time slot from September 27, 1961, to April 18, 1962, for a single season of 30 episodes. The show was a ratings failure in prime time, but became successful upon its time on Saturday morning television. The show also became very popular in Latin American countries (especially Mexico), and the United Kingdom.
