Johns Creek is an stream which begins in southern Forsyth County, Georgia and runs south-southwestward through the eastern part of northern Fulton County, Georgia (formerly the separate Milton County, Georgia, Milton County). It is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River and has no official stream gauges. The name of Johns Creek, Georgia, incorporated in late 2006, is taken from this creek that runs through the center of the new city. Name The creek's name is believed to have originated with John Rogers, one of the earliest white settlers in the area. Johns Creek is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. According to the 2020 census, the population was 82,453. The city is a northeastern suburb of Atlanta. History In the early 19th century, the Johns Creek area was dotted with trading posts along the Chattahoochee River in what was then Cherokee territory. The Cherokee nation at the time was a confederacy of agrarian villages led by a chief. However, after Europeans colonized the area, the Cherokee developed an alphabet, and a legislature and judiciary system patterned after the American model. Some trading posts gradually became crossroads communities where pioneer families – Rogers, McGinnis, Findley, Buice, Cowart, Medlock and others – gathered to visit and sell their crops. By 1820, the community of Sheltonville (now known as Shakerag) was a ferry crossing site, with the McGinnis Ferry and Rogers Ferry carrying people and livestock across the river for a small fee. The Standard Club is a private country club, founded as the Concordia Association in 1867. Originally located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, the club is now located in the northern suburb of Johns Creek, Georgia, Johns Creek. History The club started as the Concordia Association, a social club for American Jews, Jews of History of the Jews in Germany, German descent in 1867 in Downtown Atlanta. Their premises, the 1892 Concordia Hall, are still standing in the Hotel Row historic district. In 1905 it was reorganized as the Standard Club and moved into the former mansion of William C. Sanders on the east side of Washington Street, between Fair Street (now Memorial Drive) and Woodward Avenue. ACF River Basin
The ACF River Basin is the drainage basin, or watershed, of the Apalachicola River, Chattahoochee River, and Flint River, in the Southeastern United States. This area is alternatively known as simply the Apalachicola Basin and is listed by the United States Geological Survey as basin HUC 031300, as well as sub-region HUC 0313. It is located in the South Atlantic-Gulf Water Resource Region, which is listed as HUC 03. The basin is further sub-divided into 14 sub-basins. Establishment RiverPines Golf opened in the fall of 1990 as a 9 hole par 3 course and driving range. State Route 120 (SR 120) is a state highway that runs west-to-east through portions of Haralson, Paulding, Cobb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties in northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description SR 120 begins at an intersection with SR 100 (Bowdon Street) in Tallapoosa, in Haralson County. It heads northeast into Buchanan. William Penn Adair Rogers (November 4, 1879 – August 15, 1935) was an American vaudeville performer, actor, and humorous social commentator. He was born as a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, in the Indian Territory (now part of Oklahoma), and is known as "Oklahoma's Favorite Son".
