Johnny Stark (talent Manager)
Johnny Stark (born Roger Oscar Emile Stark; August 29, 1922 – April 24, 1989), was a French impresario. He is perhaps best known for working with Édith Piaf and representing Mireille Mathieu from the 1960s until his death, thus assisting her rise to international stardom. Biography Stark was born in Huningue, the son of Colonel Stark, a prominent Alsatian military figure, and a Corsican mother, born Julie Chappuit. His mother died in Nice at the age of 33 years. He lived in Corsica until the age of 11, then the French Riviera, between Cagnes-sur-Mer and Antibes. He attended school in La Bocca, Cannes. His father became a horticulturist and had property in Cagnes. In 1941, he enlisted as a volunteer in North Africa and worked with American troops. After the Second World War, he went to Hong Kong and returned to Cannes in May 1946. On August 15 of that year, he organized a "The Night of Famous Stars" at the stage of the Hespérides, in Cannes. Yves Montand
Ivo Livi (), better known as Yves Montand (; 13 October 1921 – 9 November 1991), was an Italian-French actor and singer. Early life Montand was born Ivo Livi in Monsummano Terme, Italy, to Giovanni Livi, a broom manufacturer, Ivo held strong Communist beliefs. Montand's mother Giuseppina Simoni was a devout Catholic. The family left Italy for France in 1923 following Benito Mussolini's Fascist regime. He grew up in Marseille, where, as a young man, he worked in his sister's beauty salon (Salon de Coiffure), and later on the docks. He began a career in show business as a music-hall singer. In 1944, he was discovered by Édith Piaf in Paris and she made him part of her act. Career Montand achieved international recognition as a singer and actor, starring in many films. Gloria Lasso
Rosa Vicenta Montserrat Coscolín Figueras (28 October 1922 – 4 December 2005) known professionally as Gloria Lasso was a Spanish-born canción melódica singer, long based in France. In the 1950s, she was one of the major competitors to Dalida. Born in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) in Catalonia, Spain, she achieved a degree of fame and success in the 1950s and 1960s, with songs such as ''Amour, castagnettes et tango'' (1955), ''Etranger au paradis'' (1956, a French version of '' Stranger in paradise'' by Tony Bennett), ''Buenas noches mi amor'' (1957) and ''Bon voyage'' (1958). Roger Pierre (30 August 1923 – 23 January 2010) was a French comedian and actor. Early life Roger Pierre was born on 30 August 1923 in Paris, France. Career Pierre and Jean-Marc Thibault were one of France's most popular comedy acts. Working regularly throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, Pierre's first film was 1953's ''"Belle mentalité'' (''Wonderful Mentality''). He appeared in such comedies as ''Mary Mary'' (1963), ''Who Is This Woman?'' (1967), ''The Sole Heir'' (1980), ''Mr Masure'' (1987), ''The Night of Barbizon'' and ''The Tureen'' (2001). Luis Mariano Eusebio González García (13 August 1914 – 14 July 1970), also known as Luis Mariano, was a popular tenor of Spanish origin who achieved celebrity in 1946 with "La belle de Cadix" ("The Beautiful Lady of Cadix") an operetta by Francis Lopez. Roland Toutain
Roland Toutain (October 18, 1905 - October 16, 1977) was a French actor, songwriter and stuntman. He appeared in 55 films between 1924 and 1957, both in leading and supporting roles. Life and career Toutain is known for playing the aviator André Jurieux in Jean Renoir's film ''The Rules of the Game'' (La Règle du jeu). The role suited him: Toutain was also an avid hobby aviator, as well as an acrobat. He first gained fame as an actor in the adventure film ' and its sequel '.
