Johnny Sanchez is an American actor, writer, and film producer who graduated from High School of Performing Arts (aka La Guardia H.S.) in New York City. Early years and education Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sanchez moved to Los Angeles, California, Los Angeles and later returned to New York City, where he trained at the Bill Esper Studios. During that time, he also joined LAByrinth Theater Company, currently run by artistic directors: Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz. He was a member of LAByrinth for 12 years (1993–2005). John Antonopoulos (born November 14, 1952 in Malden, Massachusetts, United States), known professionally as Johnny A, is an American musician, guitarist, and songwriter. Early life Johnny A. was born in Malden, Massachusetts, of Greek heritage. Growing up in the Boston area, he became interested in music, starting with drums at age six. The AFI Directing Workshop for Women (DWW) is an innovative program in the American Film Institute (AFI) that has been offering free training workshops and the opportunity to direct short films that has helped to launch several successful careers. The program started in 1974 and more than 200 women have been given the opportunity to participate in this unique training program for future directors. Origins In the 1970s, though many women acted in major motion pictures, almost none directed them. In 1974, Mathilde Krim, a scientist and Rockefeller Foundation board member, approached the American Film Institute (A.F.I.) about using her influence with the foundation to help women in film.
