Johnny Minick
Johnny Minick (born July 8, 1955) is an American gospel singer, songwriter, arranger, recording artist, record producer, and pastor. Biography Johnny Minick was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up in a musical family where much of his childhood was spent singing and playing music. Minick was trained in classical music and developed an interest in jazz. At the early age of three, Minick started playing the guitar. By four, he was singing solos and accompanying himself with his instrument. When Minick was six years of age, he discovered the keyboards during a visit to an aunt in Memphis. Within a few hours he was forming chords and played a song with such skill his aunt gave him her upright piano. Much of Minick's childhood was spent playing the piano and singing. Sam Goodman
Sam Goodman (March 19, 1931 – August 5, 1991) was an American Southern gospel singer/songwriter born in Bremen, Alabama. Goodman performed with his siblings in The Happy Goodman Family, where Sam sang baritone and first tenor. He also had a brief solo career. Life and career Goodman served in the United States Air Force, and after his discharge, joined The Happy Goodman Family. Sam acted as the group's spokesperson, and introduced the members and their songs on stage. On record albums produced by The Happy Goodman Family, Sam was known for telling comical stories about his family. The group performed at camp meetings, all night sings, churches, and on television and radio. Goodman won a Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Baritone in 1974. In 1982, Goodman received Minister's credentials with the Assemblies of God. The Happy Goodman Family split up in 1983. Howard Goodman
Howard "Happy" Goodman (November 7, 1921 – November 30, 2002) was an American gospel singer. In 1949, he founded the vocal group The Happy Goodman Family which included combinations of all eight Happy Goodman Family, Goodman siblings and his wife Vestal Goodman (née Freeman). Early life Howard was born on November 7, 1921, in Dora, Alabama, U.S., Howard was one of four children, Rusty Goodman, Rusty, Bobby and Sam Goodman, Sam, who were both also in the Happy Goodman Family. He met his wife, Vestal Goodman, and got married in 1949. Career Howard began his career with his brothers, The Happy Goodmans, Sam and Rusty, performing Contemporary Christian and Southern gospel in the 1940s, followed by Vestal Goodman, Vestal after getting married in 1949. Howard continued his southern gospel career until his death in 2002. Smyrna is a town in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Smyrna's population was 53,070 at the 2020 census. In 2007, '' U.S. News & World Report'' listed Smyrna as one of the best places in the United States to retire. Smyrna is part of the Nashville metropolitan statistical area. History The town of Smyrna has its European American roots in the early 19th century and began as an agrarian community. It was important during the Civil War because its railroad station lies between Nashville and Chattanooga. One of the major events of the war for the town involved the Confederate States soldier Sam Davis, who, after being charged with spying, gave up his life instead of giving any information to the Union Army. He was captured November 20, 1863, and was hanged by Union forces on November 27 of that year.
