''Johnny Kemp'' is the self-titled debut studio album by American recording artist Johnny Kemp. The first hit from the album was the single "Just Another Lover". The album also includes the hits "Cover Girl", "Penthouse Lover", and "Can't Get Enough". This album was digitally remastered first by Blue Bird Records in 2007 and recently by Funky Town Grooves in 2013, including eight additional bonus tracks, mainly remixes and instrumental versions. Johnny Kemp
Jonathan "Johnny" Kemp (August 2, 1959 – April 16, 2015) was a Bahamian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began his career as a songwriter in late 1979 and is perhaps best known for his solo work, including his single " Just Got Paid" (1988), which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 1989. Biography Early life and career Kemp began singing in nightclubs in the Bahamas at age 13. He moved to Harlem, New York in 1979 with the band Kinky Fox. In the early 1980s, Kemp became a successful session musician and songwriter, singing backup for the B. B. & Q. Band on their 1982 album ''All Night Long'' (on which he co-wrote several tracks) and for Change on their 1982 album '' Sharing Your Love'' (on which he co-wrote "Take You To Heaven"). Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. The Family Stand is an American soul and R&B group based in New York City, active since the late 1980s, consisting of Sandra St. Victor, Peter Lord Moreland, and V. Jeffrey Smith. Evon Geffries & The Stand Their first incarnation was called Evon Geffries & The Stand. Kashif Saleem (born Michael Jones; December 26, 1956 – September 25, 2016) was an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, record producer, artist, composer, author, director and educator from New York City. As a teenager, Kashif joined the funk group B. T. Express. He studied Islam and changed his name from Michael Jones to Kashif. He later signed with Arista Records enjoying success as a solo artist. Its founder, former percussionist James Mtume, previously played and toured with Miles Davis in the early 1970s.
