Early years He was born John Clifford Johnston in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Radio In the late 1930s, Johnston had his own program on NBC-Blue. Recordings Johnston had several hits on the Capitol Records, Capitol label. Personal life Johnston was married five times, and had five children. One of his marriages was to actress Kathryn Grayson at an August 22, 1947 ceremony in Carmel, California, Carmel, California. Grayson was his second wife. On October 7, 1948, the couple's only child, daughter Patricia "Patty Kate" Kathryn Johnston was born. Grayson and Johnston separated on November 15, 1950. John Johnston (15 February 1953 – 2 June 2008) was an English cricketer. Johnston was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Career Johnston made his debut for Durham against Cumberland in the 1976 Minor Counties Championship. He played Minor counties cricket for Durham from 1976 to 1990, making 78 Minor Counties Championship appearances and 12 MCCA Knockout Trophy appearances. He made his List A debut against Northamptonshire in the 1977 Gillette Cup. He made 7 further List A appearances, the last of which came against Middlesex in the 1989 NatWest Trophy. In his 8 List A matches for Durham, he took 7 wickets at an average of 39.57, with best figures of 2/31. He died in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham on 2 June 2008. John Johnston (born 2 May 1947) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder in both Northern Ireland and England. Career Born in Belfast, Johnston began his career in his native Northern Ireland with Glentoran, before making the move to England to play in the Football League with Blackpool, for whom he made 26 League appearances. The Johnston Brothers were a vocal group who had a No. 1 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1955 with their cover version of "Hernando's Hideaway". The group was formed by Johnny Johnston (born John Harold Johnston, 10 July 1919 – 10 June 1998, London). He had formed a music publishing company, Michael Reine Music, in London in 1946, and was used by the BBC Light Programme radio channel as a singer and arranger. His first big success was to write and perform, with his vocal quartet The Keynotes, the theme to the successful comedy series ''Take It From Here'' in 1948. The Keynotes remained a popular singing group in the United Kingdom throughout the 1950s, winning several awards but having no hit records. In 1949, Johnston formed an all-male singing trio, The Johnston Brothers, the other members being Alan Dean, Eddie Lester and Canadian singer Denny Vaughan (who died in 1972).
